12/28/2023 0 Comments Wrc 8 multiplayer![]() Even with re-runs, you’ll find yourself pinging off your surroundings more than you do in Yoku’s Island Express. The car can lock up way too easily the deadzone is way out the steering sensitivity feels off. Playing it on standard settings, you’ll likely find little joy in your first few races, using your allotted restarts after binning your car into a pole or bystander. If you’ve only got a controller, you’ll need to start tinkering from the ground up, across the board. Out of the box and with standard settings, WRC 8 is a twitchy, unforgiving mess reminiscent of Project Cars’ console outing: a game that’s designed for a steering wheel peripheral. It’s after the following first rally that you’ll likely realize it is. Download code provided by the publisher."Extreme Conditions" mode is as unforgiving as it sounds. But other than that, WRC 8 is a great rally game that shows the series is ready to stop playing second fiddle to Codemasters’ DiRT franchise. Of course some were already offered as DLC on day one, and I’m not a big fan of this kind of practices. When playing outside the career, it would have been great to have a greater selection of cars. Aside from the official cars used in the WRC, there’s like 3 historic cars and that’s it. The biggest downside for me is the small number of cars available in the game. But when it happens properly, if can make a race feel completely different. I was even surprised when a trophy popped up for it while I felt I didn’t experience it that much. The dynamic weather system sounds interesting on paper, but I haven’t seen much of it in practice. Greater customization is always a good thing, especially if you can change things like the timing of your co-driver’s calls to your own preference. Other new prominent features that this version introduces and are much greater customization possibilities and a dynamic weather system. For now, the online component does feel a bit light though, without leagues or championships. Although this isn’t exactly my thing, I still think its a great addition for those that are interested in it. Online, you find besides the normal online races also special timed events and time trial events that open the doors to esports possibilities. Something that sadly shouldn’t be taken for granted these days. In multiplayer, we both have an online and offline component, where the latter even has a split-screen mode. There’s also the possibility for a single race, practice exercises or just improving your skills in the test area. More than a side dishįor starters, if you just want to race the championship you can do this in the Season mode. Even if you’re not that interested in a career mode with the managerial aspects, the game has plenty more to offer on its plate. But if you just want to experience the thrill of rally, WRC 8 is a good place to start. ![]() Those that tend to be more in favor of simulation, might still be better of with DiRT Rally 2.0. Overall, WRC 8 offers a pretty enjoyable racing experience that offers a good balance between arcade and simulation. Kylotonn also worked on further improving the physics and handling of the cars. As they also further improved the graphics engine, the landscapes you race through also look magnificent. I can’t say to what extent these are the actual stages, but they did a great job with providing us breathtaking and challenging roads to race on. The tracks in WRC 8 are based on their real life counterpart and more specifically the really season of 2019. In rally, this is of course due to the narrow and technically difficult roads, often near steep edges, that you’ll have to conquer. Together with F1, rally is one of the racing disciplines that speaks to the minds of most people, because they’re high-octane thrilling experiences where the stakes are incredibly high. So there’s a whole RPG aspect to the career mode, which I found quite enjoyable. This in turn gives you ability points that you can spend in a skill tree, creating an extra dimension of specialization. Each event also gives you experience points, allowing you to level up. You also have to complete team objectives and fill up your calendar with activities between races and these vary from resting and training sessions to try-out with other teams or participating in special events like racing in extreme conditions or historical races. You have to assign your personnel, including assigning perks from a certain point in the game, and manage their fatigue and pay their wages. In the career mode, you have to manage your racing team from your garage.
